  • Madame Butterfly Restaurant and Boutique, Pradyut Moral, India (guest) wrote 7 years ago:
really enjoyed the place and food as it was near where we stayed(Kanitha Boutique Villa). But the sudden downpour (3rd October 2017 night) flooded the restaurant. however the kind Manager offered us 50% off. I recommend the place for sure

The best restaurant in siem reap because of the chefs' multi-culture background. The best customer service you can have.
  • L'Annexe French Restaurant Siem Reap, kari (guest) wrote 8 years ago:
If you are dreaming about a quiet meal in the middle of the Cambodian seethe, the Annexe is made for you. Really close to the Siem-Reap’s city center, this restaurant who is offering a traditionnal french cuisine, is probably the best of the town, and the more comfortable place to enjoy a romantic dinner.

When the Steak-House concept is meeting the french gastronomy, it offers a unique culinary experience. Simplicity and implementation quality, you can enjoy it at the Annexe Restaurant. In Siem-Reap, on Sok San Road, this is the best place to go for dinner, and for a really nice evening in a cozy and warm atmosphere.

The taste for french gastronomy is what initiate the idea of the Annexe Restaurant in SiemReap, Cambodia. From starters to desserts we can feel the cooking chief’s passion, his terroir love and his desire to transmit it. This is what makes the heartbeat of this place, which is an exception near the Angkor mythical temples.

Error on the "Nearby cities" ! It is close to Krong Siem Reap, in Sangkat (quarter) of Kouk Chak
  • Prasat Kravan, wikko (guest) wrote 9 years ago:
There's a mistake in the photo-show. Photo 6 is not a picture of Prasat Kravan. Most likely it's Pre Rup.

  • Angkor Wat library, Елена (guest) wrote 10 years ago:
Уж не знаю, где там на стенах прочитали, что это библиотеки. там и места то очень мало, только проход посередине на уровне 3-го этажа. Да и вообще складывается впечатление что во всём Анкоре только километры переходов. правда, стены, полы и потолки всё в барельефах-картинках. Но вот возникает вопрос, где, например, король мог просто полежать задрав ножки, отдохнуть от государственных дел? НЕТ там помещений, похожих на комнаты
  • Angkor Wat Basin, Елена (guest) wrote 10 years ago:
Это тоже пруд, но он наполняется водой только в определённые сезоны. все каналы и пруды там соединены какими-то сложнейшими и к сожалению уже частично разрушенными и не подлежащими восстановлению гидросистемами.

  • Kutisvara, Timothy Tye wrote 11 years ago:
This is an insignificant heap of stones located roughly north of Banteay Kdei. I had my tuk tuk driver stop his vehicle a couple of times for me to hunt for this monument. Eventually we found it. If you don't have much time to explore Angkor, give this a pass. In any case, you can view it from my photos and then decide whether it is worth a visit. http://www.big-world-out-there.com/c/cambodia/angkor/kutisvara.htm
  • Ta Prohm, Timothy Tye wrote 11 years ago:
This is the temple that reminds me of Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book. Later on, it found renewed fame in Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider. This is the Angkor temple which the restorers decided to leave as it is, with minimal restoration, so that latter-day visitors get the feel of how it is like to explore a ruin in the jungle. For a more detailed description of this ruin, please refer to my page right here: http://www.big-world-out-there.com/c/cambodia/angkor/ta-prohm.htm
  • Banteay Kdei, Timothy Tye wrote 11 years ago:
Banteay Kdei is one of those sprawling Angkor ruin. It is aligned east-west. You enter from the east (across from the Srah Srang man-made reservoir), and emerge at the west end. At both ends, and at the north and south sides, there are entrances topped with a gopura (tower with stone faces). I explain it in more detail right here: http://www.big-world-out-there.com/c/cambodia/angkor/banteay-kdei.htm
  • Mangalartha, Timothy Tye wrote 11 years ago:
Here's one very difficult-to-find Angkor ruin. It is located off the road that runs between the Angkor Thom Royal Palace and Victory Gate. About 300 m from the gate, look for a path heading south. That takes you to Mangalartha. For more details, refer to my description here: http://www.big-world-out-there.com/c/cambodia/angkor/mangalartha.htm
  • Suor Prat towers, Timothy Tye wrote 11 years ago:
Of my three visits to Angkor, I fully explored Prasat Suor Prat on my second visit of 2006. On my first visit, I only saw it from afar. These are twelve almost identical towers. The modern name means "tower of the rope dancers" though its just a fanciful name produced by a creative imagination. I describe Prasat Suor Prat in more detail right here: http://www.big-world-out-there.com/c/cambodia/angkor/prasat-suor-prat.htm
  • Eastern gate , Timothy Tye wrote 11 years ago:
I have been to the East Gate of Angkor Wat twice, on my 2002 and 2006 visits. It's nothing much compared to the main temple complex itself. But if you're a person like me, who want to see everything, then you should pay it a visit. Or, if you run out of time while you're at Angkor Wat, let me show you here how it looks like: http://www.big-world-out-there.com/c/cambodia/angkor/angkor-wat/east-gopura.htm You will notice that, unlike other monuments at Angkor, Angkor Wat faces west, so the main gate is the West Gate. Thus the East Gate is like a backdoor to the temple.
  • South gate , Timothy Tye wrote 11 years ago:
After my visit to Angkor Wat in 2006, I realised that I overlooked visiting the South Gate of Angkor Wat. So when I returned in 2008, the first thing I did was make a beeline for it. The south gate is nothing much, if you're a first time visitor, but once you have covered the major sites, you might want to check it out. Otherwise, I can show you the photo I shot of it right here: http://www.big-world-out-there.com/c/cambodia/angkor/angkor-wat/south-gopura.htm
  • Phnom Bakheng hill , Timothy Tye wrote 11 years ago:
I have visited Phnom Bakheng in 2002, 2006 and 2008, but have made the climb only on the first two visits. (On my third visit, there were all elderly people in my group who didn't want to make the climb, so my 2008 visit was rather cursory). If you go right up to the top, you will find an ancient temple in the form of a step pyramid. For more details, I describe on my webpage here: http://www.big-world-out-there.com/c/cambodia/angkor/phnom-bakheng.htm
